It's the only beach of the Barano town, but it's the widest in the whole Island. The beach, pointing towards SW, has a wide bay, and behind it there's a slopey zone, very panoramic, where the dominant colors are the green of the "mediterranean spot" plants and the golden , given by the sun in July and August.
Where possible, in the plain space, there are Hotels and Restaurants.
The names comes from the anceient greek word "quatior", which means "quiet place".
In 1536, 1544, and many other times, levantine pirates came on the island, also taking prisoners to use as slaves.
Today, luckily, we have just the shiny beauty of the beach, and the glaring bay, where there are no more corsairs, but pacific boats.
To enrich the beauty of the landscape, there are some caverns which peek up from the beach, and it is possible to explore them in search of emotions. In one of these caverns you can find the most powerful source of water of the Island: "Cava Scura" source. You'll be surprised that when you will realise that from the side of the hill an open-air spa has been built with the natural tuff. The pools are arranged within the thermal waters that will allow you to have a relaxing and very healthy bath. These spas were known also to the ancient Romans, but in different shapes.
